About the event
Coasts, Marine Structures and Breakwaters 2009 addressed the design, performance, installation and maintenance of breakwaters, seawalls, jetties, piers and beach control structures. The latest material on the design and installation of the structures necessary to extract marine and wind energy around nearshore seas and coasts was also covered.

Pre-Conference Short Course
On Tuesday 15 September 2009 the University of Edinburgh hosted a one-day short course on the Design of Coastal Structures, presenting a focussed summary of key developments in the field.
Conference Fringe
In addition to the 110 formal papers, a number of short technical notes, announcements and position papas were accepted for less formal presentation.
Technical Visit
A full day technical visit took place on Saturday 19 September 2009 featuring a visit to St Andrews and the harbours of Buckhaven and East Wemyss, concluding with a boat trip which included the spectacular views of the Forth Bridge.
